Una muñeca de sal recorrió miles de kilómetros de tierra firme, hasta que, por fin, llegó al mar. Quedó fascinada por aquella móvil y extraña masa, totalmente distinta de cuanto había visto hasta entonces.

«¿Quién eres tú?», le preguntó al mar la muñeca de sal.

Con una sonrisa, el mar le respondió: «Entra y compruébalo tú misma».

Y la muñeca se metió en el mar. Pero, a medida que se adentraba en él, iba disolviéndose, hasta que apenas quedó nada de ella.

Antes de que se disolviera el último pedazo, la muñeca exclamó asombrada: «¡Ahora ya sé quién soy!».

Eine Puppe aus Salz

Eine Puppe aus Salz reiste Tausende von Meilen über Land,

bis sie schließlich ans Meer kam. Sie war fasziniert von dieser seltsamen, sich bewegenden Wassermasse,

die ganz anders war als alles, was sie bisher gesehen hatte.

„Wer bist du?“ fragte die Salzpuppe das Meer.

Lächelnd erwiderte dieses: „Komm herein und sieh selbst.“

Also watete die Puppe in die See. Je weiter sie hineinging, desto mehr löste sie sich auf, bis nur noch sehr wenig von ihr übrig war.

Ehe der letzter Rest verging, rief die Puppe verwundert: „Nun weiß ich, wer ich bin!“

The Salt Doll

A salt doll journeyed for thousands of miles over land,

until it finally came to the sea. It was fascinated by this strange moving mass,

quite unlike anything it had ever seen before.

“Who are you?” said the salt doll to the sea.

The sea smilingly replied, “Come in and see.”

So the doll waded in. The farther it walked into the sea the more it dissolved,

until there was only very little of it left.

Before that last bit dissolved, the doll exclaimed in wonder,

“Now I know what I am!”
